RVR Championship Race 3 - Padiham Greenway 5K

An incredible 37 RVR runners represented Team RVR at the latest RVR Championship race - the Padiham Greenway 5K which was part of the excellent PBGP series.

It was fantastic to see so many members coming together on a warm sunny Wednesday evening to take part in another superbly organised PBGP event. Well done to everyone for having a go especially all those racing for the first time - hope you had fun in the sun!

It was a fast, although not flat course and there were some very quick times recorded by many members despite the pretty warm conditions.

The first RVR member home was Chris Rush in a very rapid 17:47 finishing in 17th place overall closely followed by Dan Evans, Mick Hughes and Craig Nicholls who all finished within 20 seconds of each other - well done chaps!

First female Team RVR member to finish was Helen Roden in 19:42 - just one second ahead of Hannah Thornberry with amazing sub 20 min finishes for both!

Our ladies did incredibly well overall with Hannah coming first in the F40 category and Dianne Haggar also winning the F55 category.

Other outstanding performances included Helen Roden, Kate Griffiths and Neil Sutton all coming 3rd in their respective categories.

Special mention to Ian Hydes and Al Hodgkinson who cycled to Padiham from Clitheroe and still recorded super quick times in the race - great effort!

It was certainly a memorable evening for Team RVR - the club seems to be going from strength to strength and it was just so good to see everyone taking part, challenging themselves and having fun together.

The next Championship race is the Accrington 10K on Sunday 30th October which promises to be another great Team RVR Event.

Can we get even more RVR members along to that one?

All details can be found on the Club Championship page.

Thanks also to Natalie and Emily Nicholls for the great support on the evening and fab photos too.
