Ribble Valley Runners do not currently have a formal junior section but the club is keen to encourage children to get active and develop an enthusiasm for running whatever their age and ability.

Many of our members have children who like to run and participate in local running events and races.

As a club we are particularly keen to promote the local Clitheroe Castle Junior parkrun which takes place every Sunday morning at 9.00 from Clitheroe Castle Bandstand.

This is a fun free, 2K event for children aged 4 - 14 years old and a safe, positive, inclusive event for all young runners.

As a ‘soft launch’ of what we hope will become a Ribble Valley Runners junior membership - fully paid up RVR members with children ( aged 4-17) who want to feel part of our club are welcome to do the following:

a) Add Ribble Valley Runners to their parkrun profiles. We hope that all our members have already done this on their own profiles so this should be straightforward enough. That way they can start to feel like they are part of the club straight away (well as soon as they complete their next parkrun or junior parkrun).

b) Bring them along to any of our club races / events and if they want to race then please feel free to put Ribble Valley Runners on the entry form. Although please note you WILL NOT be able to claim any club runner discounts as those are for England Athletics affiliated runners which our soft launch junior members won’t be (not to begin with anyway)

c) Buy them a team RVR juniors t-shirt to run in (or just wear whenever and wherever they want). These t-shirts are available to order from Hoody Marvellous in Clitheroe
