Team RVR make a real splash at the Ribble Valley 10K!

The rain may have held off for an hour or two but that didn’t prevent the Ribble Valley Runners from making a real splash at the Ribble Valley 10K. With 35 men and 27 ladies in the race an impressive 62 members completed the course meaning that there were pink and black shirts (not to mention the debut outing of our new flag) as far as the eye can see.

First back over the finish line was founder member Chris Rush who ran a huge PB and was joined in the three man team by Harvey Nash and Ash Jeffries who also ran great races and contributed to an overall finish of 20th male team. Honourable mention here to Dan Grundy who was in fact the first of our members to cross the finish line but was representing his first claim club Blackburn Harriers and as such was unable to count towards our team.

First lady was Hannah Thornberry who bagged an amazing 6th place in her age category. She was joined in the ladies team by Helen Roden and Kate Griffiths and they came 5th overall which we all feel is a tremendous achievement for such a small / new club. Other notable success stories were Ian Smith who came 4th in his age category and Diane Haggar, Geoffrey Palmer, Kate Griffiths and Thomas Battrick who all finished ion the top 10 of their age categories.

As always we are proud of all our runners and we celebrate each and every one of them who turned up and finished the race. Massive congratulations to those who are celebrating shiny new PBs and kudos to all who entered, turned up and raced. Another very proud day the club as we now look forward to attempting to defend our team of 20 title at the Blackburn Winter Warmer 10K in February 2023.
